Waylon Jennings

Waylon Jennings - Revelation2 guitar chord

Revelation

Waylon Jennings

I think this is a rare, great song. The copy I have is on a bootlegged

Waylon cassette tape my parent's had gotten in Iran in the early 1970's.

It's mostly just walkdowns, and holds the same pattern throughout,

with the one exception you will see in the tab. If you're lucky enough

to find this, I think you'll enjoy it; it's a powerful song. Have fun.

Chords often signify bass notes: i.e. A/G# means rather than 5th A being the

bass note, the bass note is the G# (4th fret) on the 6th E string.

Also, I find it sounds better finger picked.

Capo 4 (chords and bass notes relative to capo)

A A/G# A/F# A/E

Somewhere in Vietnam a 19 year old soldier walked out of a bar

G

room,

G G/F# G/E G/B A

And he said I must be seeing things that bourbon hit me like a baseball bat.

In Belfast, Ireland, a little lady dropped her shovel, in her garden,

and he raced across the yard and asked her neighbor, Mrs. Clancy, "what was that?"

In Memphis, Tennessee, a teacher raised the window closest, to the river,

and the children in the classroom swore they heard a choir singing down the stream.

In Washington, D.C. a private secretary's lips begin to quiver,

and the president just put aside his papers and rose quickly to his feet.

(A little faster)

D(walkdown) C

I lay in a cheap motel, in the arms of someone else's woman.

C (walkdown) D

When a loud explosion rocked the room and turned the morning into night.

(same as previous two lines)

I stumbled out of bed and ran into the street with hardly any clothes on,

And as the sky lit up my heart stood still and I could feel my face was turning white.

E

All at once the clouds rolled back and there stood Jesus Christ in all his

B

glory,

B B/G# B/F# B/E A

And I realized the saddest eyes I'd ever seen were looking straight at me.

(back to original verse pattern)

I guess I was awakened by the penetrating sound of my own screams.

And it did'nt take me long to stumble out of bed and fall down on my knees.

As tears rolled down my face I cried "Dear God, I'm thankful I was only dreamin'.

And if I never go to hell Lord, it'll be because you scared it out of me.

Comments welcome. I just reworked it, and it really sounds like these two key changes are in there.
