Foo Fighters are set to release the CD/DVD 'Skin And Bones' in America on November 7. The live double disc set was recorded at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles in late August, reports Billboard. The band were augmented by violinist Petra Haden and keyboardist Rami Jaffee. The nominations for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards have been announced tonight (September 19). Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the way, picking up four nominations, while Madonna, Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West and Muse have all got three nods. The anniversary of John Lennon birthday on October 9 will be commemorated with two peace events organised by Yoko Ono. The LennonOno Grant for Peace will give out two $50,000 prizes to the Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Centre for Constitutional Rights.In a statement Yoko Ono said: "These two groups look beyond today's conflicts and destruction and envision a positive future for our society, while working selflessly and tirelessly towards establishing a more peaceful environment for our planet."They are strong representatives of the many groups who are working in the same direction, today. They need and deserve all of our support and respect."In addition to this, the Imagine Peace Tower is set to be constructed in Reykjavik. The base of it will be filled with international prayers and wishes. It will stand as a symbol of world peace.Ono says: "Each one of us was born at this time, not by chance, but to fulfil a mission. Our work is not yet done."I know that John's spirit will be joining us on that day, October 9th, in Reykjavik and I look forward to seeing you there to celebrate this exciting day. Guitarists Eric Clapton and J.J. Cale will release their first original album collaboration, "The Road to Escondido," Nov. 7 via Reprise. The 14 tracks include 11 Cale originals, one each penned by Clapton and John Mayer and a cover of the blues staple "Sporting Life Blues."Clapton has previously scored major hits with his covers of Cale's "After Midnight" and "Cocaine." The pair hatched the idea to collaborate after performing together at Clapton's 2004 Crossroads guitar festival in Dallas."This was the realization of what may have been my last ambition -- to work with the man who's music has inspired me for as long as I can remember," Clapton says.In addition to writing "Hard to Thrill," Mayer guests on guitar alongside Taj Mahal, Derek Trucks, Albert Lee and Doyle Bramhall II. Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy has announced details of his side project's album. Box Codax, which features the star and bandmate Alexander Ragnew, are set to release their debut LP, 'Only An Orchard Away', on September 4.The duo also promise to release a new EP every six months.The pair first met when they were introduced to each other as teenagers in a club in Munich run by McCarthy's brother, however shortly afterwards Ragnew moved to Toulouse and McCarthy to Glasgow.Their collaborations continued at distance, and were eventually paused when Franz Ferdinand took off.It's understood Box Codax are currently planning live dates for later this year.
