ThisIsOtep.tv will enable fans to enjoy live web video chats with vocalist Otep Shamaya as well as a chat room for fans to directly communicate with the band. Additionally, the YouTube video for the band's new video for "Breed," (their excellent cover of the Nirvana track) will be embedded in the site. The first live chat is scheduled for Monday, December 3 at 8:00PM EST at http://www.thisisotep.tv. Otep will ask fans trivia questions about the "Breed" video. Every question is going to require users to watch the video numerous times to find the answer which is hidden within the video. Fans will be rewarded with prizes such as copies of the band's new album The Ascension, stickers, posters, and other merchandise. Otep will regularly visit this site to conduct impromptu video chats after the "Breed" promotion on Monday. Fans will learn of Otep's visits to the Otep TV site via MySpace bulletins and email alerts. The direct link to the official Breed video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlaKJoFomXk OTEP are currently touring the U.S. in support of their recently released third album The Ascension. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart and remains on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. The Los Angeles Times noted that "The Ascension finds the metal throatwoman fully fired for the beatific vision…Shamaya and bassist eVil J. have shaped the most professional of Otep's three full-lengths without sacrificing the passion or the poetry." while Metal Edge calls the record "...their most inspired effort to date...The Ascension finds the band in top form and showing levels of musical growth..."

OTEP Fans! Design band's next t-shirt!

Posten on: 2008-10-24 22:57:17

BandMerch, the first "artist-driven" merchandising company, has come up with yet another unique contest designed to bring a major band and its fans closer together. This time, aspiring artists are being asked to submit their design for a T-shirt for the renowned female-led metal group, OTEP. Participants are asked to create original artwork that has been inspired in them by Otep's music. Otep's logo and lyrics may be used in the designs, but photos and other pictures of the band may not. BandMerch and Otep are looking for fans' "reaction to Otep expressed in art." Only one submission per person is allowed. Entries will be accepted via email until May 1st, 2005. The winning design will be produced as a Limited Edition Otep T-shirt and the designer will receive a piece of original art from band leader Otep, herself. BandMerch spokesperson Keith Chagnon is excited about the prospects for this new, unprecedented competition: "Once again, BandMerch is stepping up its merchandising potential to the next level. We are not only giving fans an opportunity for a unique connection with one of their favorite bands, we are allowing them to become a part of that band's image. Imagine the thrill of having your very own design adorning a shirt alongside the logo of an artist that has really come to mean something in your life. And on top of that, the winner will receive what is literally a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork drawn by Otep's own hand. This is a fan's dream!" Those wishing to find all the contest rules and artwork specifications for design submissions, including how to download a T-shirt template, are directed to the following website: www.bandmerch.com/java2/BandMerch/Otep/index.jsp Designs may be created for the front, back or sleeves of the T-shirt. The winning shirt will ultimately be sold to fans via BandMerch's official online Otep store.

OTEP Fine Art Guitar Up For Auction

Posten on: 2008-10-24 22:57:17

Otep Shamaya Hand-Painted Guitar From Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute. Up For Auction On eBay Place Your Bids!!! All Proceeds Go To Charity!!! On May 17, bidding will open for a one-of-a-kind, fully playable and displayable Dean guitar, hand-painted by Otep Shamaya, lead singer and namesake of Los Angeles Otep. All proceeds will go to LITTLE KIDS ROCK, a foundation that helps bring music to kids who wouldnt normally have the opportunity. The guitar was originally part of the Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute. Darrell, guitarist for Damageplan and formerly of Pantera, was gunned down during a show in December of 2004. The traveling art show featured over 60 of Dimebags signature Dean ML guitars customized by the biggest names in music and art, Mark Ryden, Paul Booth, Jack Rudy, KISS Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, Metallicas James Hetfield, Ozzy Osbourne, Willie Adler of Lamb Of God and Slash. Oteps reaction to Dimebags murder is captured on the entire Dean guitar, from input to headstock. From eBay.com: This guitar is layered with symbology, numerology, cut-up collage, illustration and acrylic paint. The backside also features a painful yet childlike illustration in silver paint pen. The entire body of the guitar is covered in art and it screams all the way up the fret-board "Why, why, why!?" in response to the violence that took Dime's life. Over the course of her career, Otep has risen as a powerful female voice in the male-dominated metal genre, bringing thoughtful and thought-provoking metal to the masses. In addition to accumulating a huge musical following, she has also appeared on HBOs Def Poetry, and was nominated for CNN.coms People You Should Know. Bidding will begin at 6 PM PST on May 17, at a live Benefit Concert and Auction at the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, CA. For more information and pictures of the guitar, check it out on eBay at this location. Otep is currently on tour with Static-X in support of their upcoming CD, The_Ascension. 5/11 Detroit, MI Harpos 5/12 Fort Wayne, IN Pieres 5/17 Sauget, IL Pops 5/18 Springfield, MO Remingtons Niteclub 5/20 Kansas City, MO Beaumont Club 5/23 Chicago, IL House of Blues 5/24 Milwaukee, WI The Rave Eagles Club 5/25 Minneapolis, MN First Ave 5/26 Fargo, ND Playmakers 5/27 Sioux Falls, SD Ramkota 5/29 Englewood, CO Gothic 5/31 Black Foot, ID El Rey Events Center 6/02 Spokane, WA Big Easy 6/03 Seattle, WA Showbox 6/05 Portland, OR Roseland 6/06 Chico, CA Senator 6/07 Modesto, CA Fat Cat 6/08 Fresno, CA Rainbow Ballroom 6/11 West Hollywood, CA House of Blues 6/12 Anaheim, CA House of Blues
