OTEP won't be performing at the Ventura stop of the HellYeah tour tomorrow night as scheduled. After a wild show at the Hollywood Key Club, OTEP wasn't feeling up to performing at 100% and will be moving on to the Vegas show over the weekend. OTEP is currently on tour with Bloodsimple and HellYeah.
OTEP has parted ways with guitarist Karma Cheema (ex-AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE). Commented OTEP frontwoman Otep Shamaya: "Karma has decided to pursue other opportunities and we are happy to announce the new addition of Aaron on guitar. [Thursday night, March 22] was his first night with us and he did an amazing job. He is a true musical magi of the highest degree."
As reported earlier today by The Gauntlet, OTEP has issued a statement regarding its cancellation of the Ventura stop on the tour with HellYeah. "Due to a serious medical condition, OTEP must regretfully cancel their part in the [November 16] Ventura, CA show [on Balls Volume Strength Tour with HELLYEAH and BLOODSIMPLE]. OTEP plans to resume the tour in Vegas at the House of Blues on Saturday, November 17th. The band offers their sincere apologies but it's something that just can't be avoided."
Los Angeles quartet OTEP are proud to announce new tour dates with HELLYEAH and bloodsimple. The BALLS VOLUME STRENGTH TOUR will kick off in Michigan at The Fillmore Detroit on October 30 and close out on December 7 at The Palladium in Worcester, MA. OTEP has also gone into pre-production for two brand-new videos from their upcoming album, "The_Ascension." The band has called on music video director P.R. Brown (Smashing Pumpkins, James Blunt) to produce the videos for "Breed" and "Confrontation." Brown wrote the treatment for "Confrontation," while frontwoman Otep Shamaya has written the treatment for the Nirvana cover, "Breed." The videos are set to be filmed in Los Angeles. Brown has previously worked with OTEP on the video for "GhostFlowers." The upcoming tour will support the October 30 release of OTEP's new album, "The_Ascension." For the album, OTEP called on Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Evanescence) to produce, and also enlisted Grammy-nominated guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne and HELLYEAH) to co-write three songs. To date, OTEP has sold over 400,000 units. Do not miss OTEP on the BALLS VOLUME STRENGTH TOUR this fall. For more info, visit www.myspace.com/otep. OTEP frontwoman Otep Shamaya has posted the following message on the group's official web site: "I am very pleased to announce that we have turned the cog and are in early developmental stages of writing our next album ... We will be recording our next opus sometime this fall. I am proud and honored to have this opportunity and extend my thanks and appreciation to our label [Capitol Records] for their continued belief in me and the music we create. "As for summer touring, Gigantour is still a possibility ... But regardless, we will be ravaging the savage summer - somehow, some way ... and with new material to massacre the masses with."
