You ?Heard It All Before? and now you get to hear it again. R&B songstress Sunshine Anderson will release her sophomore disc, "Sunshine at Midnight," in January via her label, Shining Star Incorporated, and a partnership with Matthew Knowles' Music World company. The lead single "Something I Wanna Give You" will be serviced out to media outlets next week and the video will be shot next month. "We couldn?t be more excited to welcome Sunshine Anderson into the Music World family,? said Music World Music CEO Matthew Knowles via a press release. ?She has the voice, the look, and the determination of a star. Sunshine has delivered a great album and we are passionate about launching her comeback.?Anderson, who joined Knowles' label in August 2004, says she intentionally avoided guest features. "It's been a long time so we just want everyone to focus on Sunshine again," the Charlotte, N.C., native tells Billboard.com. "My vocals are raw and honest and pure, with a lot of emotion. So vocally not much has changed, but I've grown as a businesswoman. I'm more involved in this project and I was a little more inspired this time.""Sunshine at Midnight" will be the follow-up to Anderson's 2001 Atlantic debut "Your Woman," which has sold 487,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the single "Heard It All Before," which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Dr. Dre and Raphael Saadiq are among the album's producers.
Legendary R&B singer Stevie Wonder said on Wednesday (Jul. 1) that he will hold a one month U.S. tour, his first trek in over a decade. "I thought what would be really wonderful would be to go out and perform throughout this country as we have a need for healing," Wonder said.The Tour, “A Wonder Summer’s Night,” which begins next month in San Diego, will include 13 concerts from Aug. 23 to Sept. 20 in eight states. Stops in California will include San Diego, Lake Tahoe, Concord, Santa Barbara, Saratoga and Los Angeles. Other cities include Portland, Ore.; Woodinville, Wash.; Chicago; Detroit; Atlanta and Baltimore. The final concert will be in Boston. Tickets will be available beginning Aug. 11. Although the 57-year-old has given numerous performances worldwide, Wonder’s last full-scale tour in the United States was in 1995. Wonder has recorded more than thirty Top 10 hits, won more than twenty Grammy Awards (a record for a solo artist), plus one for lifetime achievement, won an Academy Award for Best Song (“I Just Called to Say I Loved You”) and has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Songwriters halls of fame. Blind from infancy, Wonder signed with Motown Records as an adolescent of age 11, and continues to perform and record for the label to this day. He has become one of the most successful and well-known artists in the world, with nine U.S. number-one hits to his name and album sales totaling more than 100 million units.
Bobby Brown is suing his now ex-wife Whitney Houston in a bid to change the terms of custody with their 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. In court papers, the R&B singer reveals he was too "strapped for cash" when his wife first filed for divorce last year (06) and couldn't afford to hire a lawyer to help him fight for custody. Bobby claims he has been homeless at times since the divorce, and is seeking spousal support, as well as child support for their daughter. His divorce from Whitney was finalized on April 24, with Whitney getting full custody. A court date for Bobby's new case has set for June 15.
R&B singers’ Bobby Brown and Sisqo are among several celebrities set to compete in a new CMT series designed to give one of them a chance to break out as the next big country music star. "Gone Country," a six-episode series premiering in January, will feature John Rich of the country duo Big & Rich guiding seven celebrities through the music industry. Along with Brown and Sisqo, the participants include Carnie Wilson, formerly of Wilson Phillips; Dee Snider of Twisted Sister; "American Idol" finalist Diana DeGarmo; Julio Iglesias Jr.; and Maureen McCormick ("The Brady Bunch").Production is under way. The celebrities are locked up in a Nashville mansion, where songwriters are preparing them for a career in country music. In each episode, the cast competes against one another in challenges that will test them musically and physically to adapt to a country music lifestyle both on- and offstage. After two weeks, Rich will select one winner, who will record and release a song.
LeToya Luckett's former boyfriend has ruled out a romantic reunion, despite appearing on the R&B singer?s promo for her latest solo single. Texas rapper Slim Thug, who has also collaborated with Luckett's former band member Beyonce Knowles, is delighted by the singer's recent success, which saw her self-titled debut set top the US charts. But despite a cameo on the album and an appearance in the video for single ?She Don?t,? Slim insists they're just friends. He tells AllHipHop.com, "We used to be together, she was my girlfriend - so I wish her all of the success. "We ain't tryin' to [go back] though. We did it, you know - we had good times, but I don't really go backwards you know - I go forward."
