Posten on: 2008-10-10 09:16:54

Lemmy Kilmister explains his unabatedly passionate relationship with his own band and its varied history as follows: "Mot?rhead is not only my job, it's my whole life." The legendary group is celebrating 30 years of a unique career. Mot?rhead have sparkled on the world's most prestigious stages, graced countless important music magazine covers and released numerous rock classics. The fact that this band counts among the most authentic and charismatic rock acts world-wide is without a doubt due to the never-tiring enthusiasm of Lemmy, who continues to live his own visions of musical earthiness irrespective of trends and fashions. His latest release, entitled Stage Fright, is a double DVD and not merely a rock'n'roll statement chiselled into stone, but also an extraordinary look at the band's life. Stage Fright was recorded during a show at the Phillipshalle in D?sseldorf on December 7, 2004. The set features 20 songs from the entire Mot?rhead history, including ‘Overkill', ‘Ace Of Spades' and ‘Iron Fist'. Directly after the show, Mot?rhead embarked on a three-months US tour, culminating in a performance at the WrestleMania in Los Angeles in front of 20,000 wrestling fans. This memorable occasion was broadcast in 50 countries and witnessed by over 50 million viewers. Stage Fright consists of two DVDs, DVD 1 featuring the D?sseldorf show, shot with 23 high definition cameras under the direction of Sven Offen (Papa Roach, Heather Nova, among others). Gert Hof, famous not only for his work with Rammstein, was enlisted to take care of the show's light design. As a special bonus, there is an interactive DVD check with Mot?rhead, with the three musicians contributing lots of interesting comments about the DVD. DVD 2 reveals previously unreleased insights, not only into the inner life of the band, but also into the rock'n'roll circus in general. There are interviews with band mastermind Lemmy, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee, as well as the road crew who talk about life on tour. Viewers get a rare chance to watch the roadies doing their work, listen in to the sound check, meet the band's cook and accompany their entourage on the road. There is also an L.A. special, fans' comments and other special features. The icing on the cake is the DVD Rom part with the ‘Life's A Bitch' realtone for your mobile, Mot?rhead wallpaper for your PC and mobile, photos from the WrestleMania show in Los Angeles, and an extensive discography. All in all, Stage Fright offers over four hours of playing time (!!!) and comes in an ear-bleeding 5.1 mix, making it the most complete (and mandatory) live Mot?rhead release yet!

Motorhead Roadie Tips Of London Police Prior to Terror Attacks

Posten on: 2008-10-10 09:16:54

CNN International (edition.cnn.com) has issued the following report via The Associated Press: A man who used his computer skills to help encrypt e-mails and produce anti-Western DVDs for radical Muslims said he tried to warn British police about two of the men responsible for the July terrorist attacks in London, a newspaper reported Saturday. Martin Gilbertson said he met Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer in Beeston, West Yorkshire, which is about 195 miles (310 kilometers) north of London. He told The Guardian newspaper he was introduced to them at a party held to celebrate the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. Gilbertson, who the newspaper said was a former Hell's Angel and roadie for the band MOTÖRHEAD, said he was working as a computer technician for people who were involved in a local Islamic bookshop and youth center. "I was alarmed and disgusted by what I heard, but I kept my views to myself and they were friendly," Gilbertson, 45, said. "They needed my skills, and I was perceived to be anti-government." By October 2003, he said the material alarmed him to the extent he went to a local police station and asked to deliver it to anti-terrorist officers. Gilbertson said he took the work to supplement his meager wages. "I'm good at what I do, and I've got kids to feed. And after a while, I became so alarmed by what was going on around me, I went to the police." Police told him to mail them the material, which Gilbertson said he did, also enclosing a list of names, including those of Khan and Tanweer. They were later identified as two of the men who attacked London's transportation system during the busy morning rush hour July 7. Four suicide bombers killed 52 commuters in the attacks. A West Yorkshire spokesman told The Guardian that it was impossible to determine what happened to the package Gilbertson said he sent police. On Saturday, West Yorkshire police said they had no comment and referred calls on Gilbertson's allegations to London's Metropolitan police, the lead investigators in the attacks. London police referred calls to West Yorkshire police. Gilbertson said he heard nothing from police until after the attacks, the Guardian reported. He spoke three times with Metropolitan Police officers after contacting them. A parliamentary report released last month said British intelligence agencies had been aware of two of the bombers -- suspected ringleader Khan and Tanweer -- before the attacks. It was decided not to closely watch them because their identities were not clear and agents were busy examining other unspecified plans to attack Britain. In editions available late Saturday, the Sunday Times reported than an electronic tracking device was recovered from Khan's car after the July bombings, indicating he had been under closer scrutiny in the runup to the attacks than previously acknowledged. The newspaper said the bug had been placed inside the vehicle by detectives in a surveillance operation aimed at extremists in West Yorkshire, citing unidentified security sources. London's Metropolitan Police said it would not comment on the allegation. "It is policy not to comment on matters of intelligence," said a police spokeswoman, on customary condition of anonymity.

Lemmy's filthy mouth keeps metal from the masses in Florida

Posten on: 2008-10-08 07:04:58

According to the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, on October 1st, Motorhead played an all day festival in the park in Pinellas Park, Florida. Many of the residents were extremely upset with the decibel levels of the show. The city's allowable noise levels depend on zoning, but mostly range from 72 decibels during the day to 55 during the evening. Those ranges vary during special events. In front of the England Brothers Bandshell, where MOTORHEAD played, the decibel levels were anywhere between 92 and 118. 100 decibels is about what an air traffic controller hears throughout the day. One email--which was signed by a Christine-- wrote, "My cat actually vomited, he was so upset!" The furious woman attributed the cause to the incessant drumming, Lemmy's abrasive vocals, and extremely high vocals. Noise will be a factor in the townships decision to X out heavy metal, but obscene language will be the clincher. Park spokesman Tim Caddell related, "As soon as they'd stop, they'd go, "F---!"' Caddell said. "You could hear that clear as anything all the way through town. It was clear, I've got to admit. I heard every single one of them." Motorhead appeared in front of 3,500 people. Ten other bands opened the concert. The show started at 11 A.M. and ended at 1 A.M.
