- (DotMusic.com) - Is Madonna finally ready to launch a full-scale world tour? No one is saying for sure what the pop icon's tour plans are, but her U.K. spokeswoman said it was "very likely" that she would tour later this year. Although it's unclear how many dates she will play and where, it is believed any gigs in the U.K. will take place between May and July at large venues such as London's Earl's Court. The fan site Madonnarama.com also suggests that U.S. tour dates are in the works.
The American NBC television network has cut a controversial song from an upcoming Madonna concert special. The special features performances from Madonna's "Confessions" summer tour. During the song "Live to Tell," Madonna performed while on a cross which upset several family and religious groups. NBC issued a statement that did not say why they were removing the song from the special, just that it would be edited out. The concert is to air Nov. 22.
Madonna has released a new digital song for "Live Earth" concerts, which she will be performing at. "Hey You" is available on MSN.com. The first million downloads are free, and Microsoft is pledging to donate 25 cents per download to the Alliance for Climate Protection."Live Earth" (starting July 7) is a global concert series designed to raise awareness about climate issues. "Hey You," which Madonna produced with Pharrell Williams, doesn't specifically talk about Earth issues, but the ballad's lyrics refer to loving and saving each other. Other performing acts include the Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis and the Beastie Boys. Madonna is scheduled to perform the song during the show at Wembley Stadium in London and at other shows in Giant Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.; Tokyo; Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; Sydney, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Hamburg, Germany; and Istanbul, Turkey. Madonna has called her new album 'Licorice' and it will be released in late April.The record will be the superstar's eleventh studio album, and is the follow up to 2005's 'Confessions On A Dancefloor'.Reports suggest that the album will be a dance record with a hip-hop edge, reflected by Madonna's collaborations with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams which will appear on the album.Two songs entitled 'Candy Shop' and 'The Beat Goes On' were leaked online earlier this year.The album is her last record to be released with current label Warner Brothers. She recently sealed a deal with Live Nation offshoot Artist Nation.
