New York native Jesse McCartney is back with his 3rd and most personal album yet, Departure, hitting stores on May 20th. A new and edgier pop/R&B sound reflects his growth as a singer, songwriter and young man. Jesse's first single, "Leavin'", produced by Tricky and The-Dream (Rihanna's "Umbrella") is this week's #2 most added song at Top 40.For Departure, McCartney sought out many of today's biggest hit-making producers. Sean Garrett (Chris Brown, Usher), J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), The Clutch (Ciara, Mary J. Blige), and Eric Hudson (Kanye West), who Jesse describes as a young Quincy Jones."The songs on Departure explore several facets of my growing pains and interpersonal relationships," says McCartney. Since releasing his debut solo album, Beautiful Soul in 2004, McCartney quickly went multi-platinum, racking up #1 chart positions all over the world, from Australia to Italy to Japan. McCartney garnered countless award nominations including an American Music Award for Best New Artist, an MTV Award for Best Pop Video, as well as several Kid's Choice and Teen Choice wins.
Currently on tour with Jordin Sparks, pop singer Jesse McCartney still remains in shock over his first #1 single "Leavin," the latest single from his R&B flavored album "Departure." "I'm still in shock. It's like going to a Yankee game and catching a foul ball hit by Derek Jeter" says McCartney who contrary to reports is not related to Paul McCartney. McCartney has felt at home with latest album "Departure," a mix of R&B and pop. Growing up on his parents' 45 collection McCartney recently told the New York Post "It had all the classics - James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson. When I got a little older, I started discovering music on my own, and I loved Craig David's 'Born To Do It.'" McCartney's "Leavin" is currently atop the Pop 100 chart and sits comfortably on the Mainstream Top 40 chart.
Jesse McCartney can add spokesperson to his resume this week, the pop singer/actor becomes the first male spokesperson to appear in clothing retailer Bongo's fall campaign. Following in the footsteps of previous Bongo spokespersons including Nicole Richie and Kim Khardashian the "Departure" singer becomes the face of the retailer's fall 2008 campaign. McCartney, who recently released the pop/R&B infused album"Departure," will be featured along with the "Fab Five Fit" girls in Bongo's multi-media advertising campaign debuting in September issues of fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as on the internet. "There's nothing better than a girl in a t-shirt and jeans so the Bongo shoot was a dream come true for me!" McCartney will make personal appearances on behalf of Bongo as well as participate in other events to celebrate his partnership with the brand. Bongo will promote Jesse McCartney when he goes on tour this August with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. In related news, the singer is slated to premiere his independent film "Keith" on September 13th at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Resort.
