R&B Singer Jaheim Sets Strong Pace With ‘Never’

Posten on: 2008-09-03 06:43:41

"Never," the first single from multi-platinum R&B superstar Jaheim's forthcoming Atlantic Records debut album, The Makings of a Man, cracks the Top 15 at Urban AC Radio this week. The tender track - which is virtually guaranteed to soundtrack countless engagements and weddings though 2008 and beyond - was produced by Daniel Farris for Earfull Music/Woodworks.The track is a nod to the age-old adage, "You should never say [never]," says Jaheim. "It's about that relationship you thought you would never find." It's the perfect record to reintroduce the originator of the genre dubbed "thug R&B." Jaheim recalls, "After we did the song, it was incredible. I felt it as a singer and as the first single I think it's a good choice. To come back in the ballad mode, I'm filling in that gap" left by departed pioneers like Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert and Barry White. The Makings of a Man finds the New Brunswick, New Jersey-born Jaheim joining forces with a variety of today's most innovative studio hitmakers. Among the stellar line-up of producers are the one-and-only R. Kelly, longtime collaborator KayGee (Naughty By Nature, Zhane), Ivan Barias and Carvin Haggins of Karma Productions (Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, Jill Scott), and Jasper Cameron (Nelly, Christina Aguilera). Among its expected highlights will be a duet with Keyshia Cole, as well as a tribute to Jaheim's hero, Luther Vandross, recorded with the dearly departed soulman's former producer, Nat Adderley Jr. In its sixty year history, Atlantic Records has been home to the most ground-breaking and enduring artists in urban music, from soul and R&B to hip-hop and jazz. Atlantic is proud to welcome Jaheim to its world-renowned roster and will release The Makings of a Man, the label debut of this multi-talented, multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer, on December 18th.

For the contest, Jaheim has teamed up with The Steve Harvey Morning Show, The Jamaica Tourist Board, American Airlines, and Atlantic Records to make one lucky couple’s dream of a destination wedding come true. The winning couple, and 20 guests, will be whisked away to the Grand Lido Braco Resort & Spa in Jamaica for the “Ultimate Jamaica Destination Wedding,” complete with a special performance by Jaheim during the couple’s first dance at the wedding reception. Jaheim Escapes Warner, Signs With Atlantic for Fourth LP

Posten on: 2008-06-21 01:19:42

New Jersey bred R&B singer/songwriter/producer Jaheim has signed with Atlantic Records, a fully owned subsidiary of Warner Music Group. Jaheim, who was previously signed to Warner Bros., will release his as-yet-untitled Atlantic debut on Dec. 18. "This is a milestone project for me, which reflects on changes and growth in my personal and professional life. I produced and wrote half of the album. I'm just focused," Jaheim tells Billboard.com. "I'm with people that understand the market -- no disrespect to anyone over there [Warner Bros.]. At this point in my career, I need a company that understands and they [Atlantic] are taking me to a whole new level." Babyface, R. Kelly, KayGee (Naughty By Nature), Jasper Cameron, the Clutch and Nat Adderley Jr. of Luther Vandross fame lent their production efforts to the set, the latter producing a tribute to the late Vandross. This comes as no surprise since Vandross is one of Jaheim’s biggest idle. Keyshia Cole is the only feature thus far, though Jaheim hopes to record more collaborative tracks in the coming weeks. The first single from the album is titled "Never," is currently featured on Singersroom.com Jaheim also plans on embarking on a U.S. tour later this year.
